Spanish reports say Maccabi Tel Aviv midfielder Issouf Sisoko is attracting interest from two La Liga clubs, Elche and Levante. The report was published Thursday in Spain by journalist Javi Huicera of esportbase, who wrote that Sisoko is on both clubs' lists and still has one year left on his contract.
Levante returned to Spain's top flight after promotion from the second division last season and finished 16th out of 20 teams, just clear of relegation. It also features Israeli midfielder Tai Abed, who joined from PSV Eindhoven. Elche finished one place above the relegation zone with 43 points, compared with 42 for the team below it, and recently appointed 40-year-old Martin Anselmi as head coach after his previous jobs at Botafogo and Porto.
Sisoko, 24, is from Mali and has played for Mali's youth national teams. This season he made 40 appearances for Maccabi Tel Aviv, helped the club win the State Cup, and recorded one assist. The report raises the possibility that he could leave Maccabi after just one more year on his deal.
