Maccabi Tel Aviv dropped its first points of the season in a disappointing 0-0 draw against Bnei Sakhnin on Saturday, ending a five-game winning streak in the Israeli Premier League. While Maccabi Tel Aviv missed numerous scoring opportunities, the visitors' goalkeeper was instrumental in preventing a win for the league leaders.

He signed a contract worth 140,000 euros per season with an option for two additional years. He was released from his previous club, Petrolul Ploiești, after not receiving his salary for several months. His agent, Yinon Botavia, then offered him to Sakhnin.

His performance against Maccabi Tel Aviv earned him widespread acclaim from Sakhnin supporters, with one fan even giving him a stack of bills at the end of the match.

"I've never received a bonus like this before. I'll buy something sweet for the locker room, not just for me."

He also had a loan spell in Armenia before returning to Romania and Petrolul Ploiești, from where he transferred to Sakhnin.
