Captain Eliab Haim Tzfalamus, 21, from Haifa, was laid to rest on Friday at the military cemetery in his hometown. Tzfalamus, a platoon commander in the 603rd Battalion, died two days prior in an operational accident near the Litani River in southern Lebanon. His girlfriend's farewell speech at the funeral resonated deeply with many who heard her grief-stricken words.

Moshe Ben Shimhon Inbar, Tzfalamus's partner of five years, tearfully eulogized him, describing their interrupted future. "My Eliab, my happiness, I can't find the right words. How can I eulogize you?" she said, adding, "Everything feels like a nightmare I just want to wake up from." She expressed conflicting emotions of anger and gratitude for their time together, questioning why he didn't return despite promising to be careful. She lamented that he was due to change roles in two weeks and questioned why he was taken from her.

Inbar shared their unfulfilled dreams, including traveling abroad, getting married, and having children. "You called me your future wife, so where are you, my future love? Watch over us, my beloved," she concluded. Tzfalamus's mother, Chali, read a eulogy on behalf of the family, describing her son as the "pillar and compass" of his siblings and their firstborn. "Your room at home is empty, who will fill it for us? Our family is broken now," she stated.

Childhood friends Sahar and Guy recalled their shared journey since age six, noting Tzfalamus's belief in his mission. They promised to remember and memorialize him, stating his siblings had gained "14 new older brothers." Battalion commander Lt. Col. Ran Kahani praised Tzfalamus's bravery, diligence, and responsibility during his seven months commanding a platoon in Lebanon, vowing the battalion would support the family.

The accident occurred Thursday afternoon when an army Humvee overturned during an operation by a force from the 7th Brigade in southern Lebanon. Three other soldiers sustained minor injuries. The IDF has launched an investigation into the circumstances of the crash.
