Volkswagen has revealed the ID. Tiguan, which will replace the ID.4 and ID.5 electric vehicles. The new model adopts a more familiar name, though it is not directly related to the internal combustion engine Tiguan it will be sold alongside. The ID. Tiguan is slated for production in early 2027, and the local importer in Israel, Champion Motors, is in discussions with the manufacturer about bringing it to the Israeli market.

The exterior design features Volkswagen's updated design language, appearing less rounded than previous ID models. The front includes connected headlights, a dark grille, and a illuminated brand logo. Instead of a closed grille, the license plate is mounted there, with air intakes on the bumper sides to improve aerodynamics. The profile is conventional, with SUV-like elements such as black plastic cladding and roof rails. Wheels can be up to 21 inches. The rear design continues the elegant theme with rectangular lighting modules and thin LED strips across the tailgate, also passing through the illuminated Volkswagen logo.

In terms of dimensions, the ID. Tiguan is larger than the combustion engine Tiguan, measuring 4.62 meters long, 1.85 meters wide, and 1.62 meters high, with a wheelbase of 2.76 meters. However, its trunk capacity is smaller at 534 liters, though it also has a 32-liter front trunk. Towing capacity ranges from 1.8 to 2 tons.

The interior design is characterized by straight lines, evolving from the current Tiguan. It features a 10-inch digital instrument cluster with retro-style displays and a central 15-inch multimedia screen. Climate control and steering wheel functions are managed by physical buttons, and the center console includes two wireless charging pads. Higher trim levels offer an optional 12-inch passenger-side multimedia screen with separate Bluetooth connectivity. Front seats are electrically adjustable with memory, heating, ventilation, and massage functions. A panoramic roof and Harman Kardon audio system are also available. The advanced safety suite includes adaptive cruise control with traffic sign recognition and cloud connectivity. A remote control app and a smart key that can be shared are also included.

The ID. Tiguan is built on the upgraded MEB+ platform, enhancing battery management for improved range. The entry-level rear-wheel-drive model offers 190 horsepower, a 58 kWh LFP battery, a range of 450 km, and can charge from 10% to 80% in 26 minutes at 105 kW. A more powerful rear-wheel-drive version produces 286 horsepower with a 78 kWh NMC battery, providing a range of 600 km and charging at 165 kW in 29 minutes. The top-tier all-wheel-drive model delivers 299 horsepower with a 77 kWh battery and a range of 560 km. All models feature a one-pedal driving function and V2L capability for powering external devices.
