Dror Pekatch, a senior Israeli Sports Director, is taking a break from the NSN cycling team after six years of service, hundreds of races, and three appearances in the Tour de France. Pekatch cited burnout and the personal toll of extensive time away from home as the reasons for his decision to pause his career, at least for now.

Pekatch joined the team, then known as 'Cycling Academy,' on its first day and was instrumental in its growth from a young professional team to one established at the top of the sport. He progressed through his role, becoming part of the leadership team for major global races, including three editions of the Tour de France.

"After six years as Sports Director, with a huge number of days away from home that took a heavy toll on my private life, I thought it was right to stop and take a break, precisely when I am in an excellent professional position and finishing with a good feeling and excellent relations with the team members," Pekatch stated. He added, "The last six years were the most significant in my professional life. I learned a lot and progressed thanks to this team, which became much more than a home and family to me."

He expressed gratitude to Sylvain and Ronnie Bar-On for opening the door, highlighting the privilege of reaching the world's biggest races with the team and participating in the "huge project." Pekatch emphasized that his work was driven by "real passion for the profession, for the riders, and for the team."

Sam Bewley, Head of Sports Directors for the team, respects Pekatch's decision but believes his passion for racing will draw him back. Bewley acknowledged Pekatch's development into a knowledgeable professional with a strong presence, noting his willingness to voice his opinions and his significant contributions to the team. "But I know Dror, and I am sure that professional cycling races will miss him, and that he will miss them," Bewley commented.

Ronnie Bar-On, a co-founder, was more definitive about Pekatch's future, calling his departure a "short sabbatical to breathe some air." He praised Pekatch as one of the first Israeli professionals to join them, instrumental in building the team and nurturing young riders, and becoming a leading Sports Director. Bar-On expressed pride in Pekatch being the first Israeli Sports Director at the Tour de France and his contributions to developing young Israeli riders. He assured Pekatch that "the door will always be open for him when he decides it's time to open the next chapter with us." Pekatch himself did not rule out a future return, stating, "From here, I continue as a fan of this team, and especially of all the amazing people who work there. I hope our paths will cross again in the future."
