A 52-year-old Jewish media professional, Dan Levin, was brutally assaulted in central London on Tuesday evening by two men after he intervened to stop them from spray-painting hateful anti-Israel graffiti. Levin was walking home from the theater when he noticed the two individuals using a stencil on the pavement in Queen Square. The graffiti targeted Sagal Abdi-Wali, a Labour Party candidate, labeling her a "puppet of the Israeli genocide regime." Levin approached the men, moved the stencil with his foot, and told them that their rhetoric echoed that of the Nazis from whom Jews fled. In response, one attacker began shouting and physically assaulted Levin, punching and kicking him. When Levin attempted to film the attackers with his phone, he lost his balance and fell. Both assailants then proceeded to beat and kick him while he was on the ground. Levin described the attack to GB News, stating, "I felt a man weighing 115 kilograms lying on me and hitting me." The assault ceased when a woman and another passerby emerged from a nearby pub and intervened, prompting the attackers to flee. As a result of the attack, Levin sustained severe injuries, including bleeding cuts to his head and a broken rib. He later shared a photo on social media showing his bleeding head. Levin criticized the incident, calling the attackers "neo-Nazis" and linking them to the Green Party's stance on Zionism. The Metropolitan Police have launched an investigation, treating the incident as an antisemitic hate crime. Levin expressed concern about the current climate, stating, "The atmosphere today gives people the green light to attack others, especially Jews," adding, "It is a very tense and frightening time to be Jewish right now." He emphasized that he is not affiliated with any political candidate but felt compelled to speak out.
