Protests organized by the Jerusalem Faction are expected to cause significant traffic disruptions in Jerusalem and the Gush Dan region on Thursday, beginning around 4:00 PM. The protests were called by Jerusalem Faction leader Rabbi Azriel Auerbach in response to recent arrests of yeshiva students.

Key protest areas in Gush Dan are anticipated to be Highway 4, especially around Bnei Brak, Geha Junction, and Ginot Interchange. Police have warned of potential traffic changes and closures on Highway 4 up to the If HaMoshavot area, as well as on Jabotinsky Street in Bnei Brak. Disruptions are also possible on Highways 1 and 6.

In Jerusalem, demonstrations are expected near the city entrance, by the Chords Bridge, at the Sari Israel junction, and on Bar Ilan Street. Reports suggest the light rail in Jerusalem may also be affected.

The decision to protest follows the renewal of proactive arrests against yeshiva students classified as draft dodgers. This week, two students, Eliyahu Debeda and Yakir Ralbag, were arrested and sentenced to 20 days in military prison. Previous attempts to arrest draft dodgers have been met with resistance, with hundreds of protesters intervening to prevent arrests, sometimes requiring additional police forces to extract soldiers.

The "Committee for the Salvation of the Torah World" of the Jerusalem Faction stated that the protests are a response to the arrests and what they describe as the "abandonment of yeshiva students by the Haredi leadership."
