  • The deal deepens an existing partnership between Discount Capital and Aluma Fund.

Discount Capital is deepening its investment in the energy sector and its partnership with Aluma Fund, committing approximately 93 million shekels (about $25 million) in two parallel moves. The investment arm of Discount Bank will invest 81 million shekels in AlumaEnergy, Aluma Fund's energy subsidiary, and an additional 12 million shekels directly into Aluma Fund itself.

The investment in AlumaEnergy is based on a valuation of approximately 411 million shekels before the capital injection. Discount Capital will receive about 16% of AlumaEnergy's shares, while Aluma Fund will retain control with approximately 84%. Concurrently, Discount Capital will invest 12 million shekels in Aluma Fund through a private placement at 1.13 shekels per share, minus a dividend expected on October 12. This will give Discount Capital about a 4% stake in the fund.

This move follows AlumaEnergy's significant expansion, including its July acquisition of the natural gas operations of Supergas for about 406 million shekels. More recently, at the end of September, AlumaEnergy agreed to purchase OPC Distributed for 272 million shekels. OPC Distributed owns natural gas power generation facilities, solar systems, and energy storage projects. Upon completion, AlumaEnergy is expected to operate approximately 85 megawatts of distributed power generation across 25 customer sites.

Discount Capital views the energy sector as having significant growth potential, and this investment aligns with its strategy. The investment in AlumaEnergy provides exposure to natural gas supply, on-site power generation, cogeneration, energy storage, and electricity trading. The new capital will fund further investments, operational expansion, and additional acquisitions for AlumaEnergy.

This is not Discount Capital's first collaboration with Aluma. In 2025, it acquired a 20% stake in the energy efficiency company Esco for 160 million shekels. Yair Hirsch, CEO of Aluma Fund, stated that the investment provides AlumaEnergy with additional capital for growth, while Hanoch Papushdo, Deputy CEO of Investments at Discount Capital, noted that the parallel investment in Aluma Fund reflects the strengthening relationship between the entities.
