Actress Sydney Sweeney and the late Marilyn Monroe, often compared to each other, have been confirmed as ninth cousins, separated by one generation. The research, conducted by Israeli genealogy company MyHeritage, found that the similarity in their lives and appearances is not coincidental.

According to the findings, both Sweeney, 29, and Monroe share ancestors Stephen Sweeney, Sydney's father, and Charles Stanley Gifford, Marilyn's father. They are both descendants of Ezra Pree, one of the earliest settlers in Sandwich, Massachusetts, in the 17th century.

Sweeney, known for generating buzz, has often embraced the comparisons to Monroe. For the premiere of "Immaculate" in Los Angeles in December, she wore a white gown by Israeli designer Galia Lahav, a tribute to Monroe's 1955 film "The Seven Year Itch." Earlier, at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, she wore a vintage dress by Syl Chappman that closely resembled a dress Monroe wore on the cover of Life magazine in 1952.

Beyond stylistic similarities, the two women appear to share an attraction to Jewish men. Monroe converted to Judaism before marrying playwright Arthur Miller in 1956. Reports now suggest Sweeney is considering converting for her partner, Scooter Braun, who is Jewish. She has reportedly met with rabbis and was seen accompanying Braun to synagogue services during the recent High Holidays.
