Idan David, the former chairman of Netivei Ayalon (Ayalon Highways), who was dismissed from his position amid suspicions of falsifying his resume, has announced his resignation as a director of the Sports Betting Council (the Toto).

In a letter to the Chairman of the Board, Shabtai Tzur, David stated his intention to arrange the conclusion of his term in accordance with the law and accepted procedures. David had served as chairman of Netivei Ayalon for approximately one year before his dismissal at the end of September. His removal followed alleged discrepancies between the information he presented during his appointment process and findings from an investigation, as revealed by journalist Yossi Mizrahi in a Channel 12 report.

Following the affair, the police initiated an investigation into suspicions of forgery and other offenses, and David was questioned by Lahav 433, the police's fraud investigation unit. The Government Companies Authority also ruled that he could not continue to serve as a director at Netivei Ayalon.

David emphasized that his decision does not diminish his appreciation for the Sports Betting Council, its activities, or its importance to Israeli sports. He wished the chairman, management, and employees success in their future endeavors. David is required to formally notify the Minister of Culture and Sport of his resignation, as stipulated by law, and finalize the termination of his tenure.
