Jason Blaze Ouda has been sentenced to life imprisonment and the maximum compensation by the court for the murder of Elena Granberg. The judges described the act as a planned, cruel, and merciless killing carried out with a pre-prepared knife, motivated by Ouda's feelings of rejection after Granberg refused his romantic advances.

On August 24, 2026, Ouda drove Granberg to her sister's home, stopping en route at a parking lot in Rehovot under the pretense of being in a poor mental state. After 10:33 PM, while they were in the car, Ouda produced a knife and repeatedly stabbed Granberg in the neck, back, and hands, intending to kill her. Despite her attempts to resist and defend herself, he continued until she stopped moving.

Following the murder, Ouda transported Granberg's body to a remote location, removed it from the vehicle, and poured a large amount of gasoline over it, intending to set it ablaze. He ultimately decided against this, drove away, and discarded their mobile phones. Responding emergency services confirmed Granberg's death at the scene.

In their verdict, judges Ami Kobo, Michael Kershen, and Meirav Greenberg detailed the testimony of Granberg's family. Her mother, Tatiana Granberg, remembered her daughter as a nature-loving individual with aspirations that would remain unfulfilled. Her sister, Nadia Aminov, spoke of their close bond and how Elena never had the chance to start a family or meet her niece. The family also suffered the loss of Elena's father two years after her murder.

The judges' ruling highlighted the premeditated nature of the crime, noting Ouda's acquisition and preparation of the knife, the multiple stab wounds inflicted, and his failure to render aid or attempt to save Granberg after the attack. They also emphasized his plan to burn the body and his subsequent removal of her personal belongings to prevent identification. The court found that Ouda murdered Granberg solely because she rejected his advances, causing him to feel rejected and frustrated.
