Meir Hospital in Kfar Saba said that over the past week, four children from the Sharon region arrived at its emergency department with fever, rash and symptoms raising suspicion of spotted fever, a disease caused by a tick bite.
Two of the children were hospitalized for treatment and observation. In one of the cases, laboratory testing came back positive for the disease.
Results for the other three cases have not yet been received, the hospital said. The update did not say where in the Sharon area the children came from or whether additional cases are being monitored.
