Hostage survivor Rom Braslavski publicly accused Yonatan Shemeriz, a leader of the October 7th memorial ceremony, of denying his request to speak. Braslavski claims the refusal was politically motivated, stating he was told he did not align with Shemeriz's political views. The ceremony is scheduled for the day after Braslavski's public accusation. Braslavski wanted to commemorate 11 friends murdered at the Nova festival.

A hostage survivor of the October 7th attacks, Rom Braslavski, has sharply criticized Yonatan Shemeriz, one of the leaders of the upcoming national memorial ceremony for victims. In a video posted on social media the day before the ceremony, Braslavski stated that his request to speak and commemorate the 11 members of his team who were murdered at the Nova music festival was denied, which he attributes to political reasons.

"Yonatan Shemeriz, how dare you not allow me, a hostage survivor, to speak at the October 7th commemoration ceremony and honor the memory of the 11 team members who were murdered with me at Nova?" Braslavski asked directly in the video.

Braslavski explained that he had approached Shemeriz on his own initiative to request a speaking slot. "I approached you with the intention of coming to speak and commemorate at your national, political ceremony, and you simply told me: 'No, I'm sorry, I cannot let you speak,'" he recounted. Braslavski believes the refusal was not due to time constraints or the ceremony's agenda, but rather due to political differences. "Of course, you cannot let me speak, because I do not align with your political views. You are taking this, the holiest of holies in the State of Israel, and destroying it and tainting it with politics. You and your ilk should be ashamed of yourselves," Braslavski stated.
