Trump says Iran told U.S. there are no fees in the Strait of Hormuz
U.S. President Donald Trump wrote on Truth Social that Iran informed the United States that, despite what he called “fake news” reports, there are no transit fees, no insurance costs and no other charges of any kind being demanded from ships sailing through the Strait of Hormuz.
Trump added that if that information is false, “the negotiations will end, immediately.” He also said that no money has been given to Iran, and that no Iranian funds have been released by the United States to Iran.
He said the U.S. will release part of Iran’s money, but only from funds that remain under full American control. The post did not say when any such release would happen or under what conditions.
