Trump Says No Transit Fees Will Be Charged in the Strait of Hormuz During Ceasefire
US President Donald Trump said that no passage fees will be collected in the Strait of Hormuz during a 60-day ceasefire. He added that even after that period ends, no fees will be charged unless the United States itself imposes them.
Trump said any such US-imposed charge would be for Washington’s services as a “guardian angel” for Middle Eastern countries, and as reimbursement for past, present and future costs. He closed his statement by saying, “Thank you for your attention to this matter.”
