A new Torah scroll was dedicated in the community of Harasha in memory of Capt. Avraham Ben Pinchas, a resident of the village who was killed in combat in the southern Gaza Strip. The ceremony brought together his family, friends, and local residents.
The final letters of the scroll were written by his father, Rabbi David Ben Pinchas, one of the senior rabbis at Yeshivat Bat Yam. After completing the writing, he recited the blessing of Shehecheyanu with the traditional declaration of God’s name and kingship.
Among those attending were Rabbi David Hai HaCohen, head of Yeshivat Bat Yam and rabbi of the Orot HaTorah community, and Rabbi David Dvekowitz, rabbi of Yitzhar and head of Yeshivat Ro'eh Yisrael. The event concluded with a procession through the settlement, accompanied by singing and dancing, and the scroll was then brought into the synagogue and placed in the ark.
