Hundreds of religious students, rabbis and local residents gathered in northern Tel Aviv for an emotional Torah scroll procession dedicated to the memory of Ziv Chen, a fallen soldier killed during the war in Gaza. The event took place in the Ramat Hahayal neighborhood and drew broad participation from admirers of Chen's memory and members of the community.
The scroll was donated through the efforts of students from Yeshivat Nachlat Yosef and their families, who worked together to commemorate Chen, described in the article as "the holy soldier". Chen was killed in combat during the Iron Swords War, leaving behind a grieving widow and a baby son who never knew him.
The ceremony included heads of yeshivas, rabbis, judges and other religious leaders, along with hundreds of neighborhood residents. As the Torah scroll was carried under a wedding canopy toward the yeshiva, dancers accompanied it through the streets of Tel Aviv in scenes of public celebration and religious devotion.
The ornate scroll was brought into the sanctuary of Yeshivat Nachlat Yosef, led by Rosh Yeshiva Rabbi Nissim Oded, educational director Rabbi Binyamin Pinznel, and president of the institution Rabbi Yosef Shvaks. After the scroll was placed in the ark, the crowd held a festive meal in the yeshiva hall to honor the Torah and Chen's memory.
