Israeli Prison Service Dedicates Renovated Synagogue and Torah Scroll in Memory of Fallen Officer Ilan Yom Tov

The Israeli Prison Service held a solemn dedication ceremony for its newly renovated synagogue, including the installation of a Torah scroll in memory of Lieutenant Colonel Ilan Yom Tov, who passed away during his service. The event took place under the leadership of the Prison Service's Rabbinical Division and was attended by Commissioner Kobi Yakobi, senior command staff, Yom Tov's family, and numerous guests.

Participants recited prayers for Yom Tov's soul, accompanied by singing and dancing in a festive and emotional atmosphere. The synagogue renovation aligns with the Prison Service Commissioner's policy to prioritize the welfare of prison officers and staff by strengthening spiritual values and heritage. The upgrade included the addition of a women's section to accommodate female staff and comprehensive improvements to create a dignified and welcoming prayer space.

The artistic portion of the ceremony featured a special band organized by the "Shavat Asirim" organization, led by Rabbis Yosef Kozlik and Yechiel Wols. This organization has long supported the Prison Service through extensive volunteer activities within detention facilities, aiming to reinforce the organization's values, spirit, and resilience.
