Colonel Avichai Adraee, who served for over two decades as the head of the Arabic media department in the IDF Spokesperson's Unit, is moving to the media sector. Adraee will join Channel 12 as an analyst for Arab affairs, appearing in the network's various news broadcasts. His move was reported on Tuesday by mako.

Adraee held his IDF position from 2005 until his planned retirement from the military in February 2026. During his tenure, he progressed from a section head to colonel, becoming a recognizable figure in Israeli public diplomacy in the Arab world through numerous media appearances and extensive social media activity in Arabic. He was considered a prominent voice for the IDF to Arabic-speaking audiences.

Command of the Arabic media department was recently transferred to Lieutenant Colonel Ella Waweya, known as "Captain Ella." Since leaving his active military role, Adraee has been advising the army's unit for Arab and Middle Eastern affairs. This new role at Channel 12 marks his first journalistic position since his military service.
