UK Threatens to Expel Israeli Diplomats Over Jerusalem Consulate Closure

Britain has threatened to expel 27 Israeli diplomats from its embassy in the UK if Israel does not reverse its decision to close the British Consulate in East Jerusalem. The threat was conveyed by British Ambassador to Israel Simon Walters to Israeli officials, according to Israeli media reports. This diplomatic escalation follows recent tensions between London and Tel Aviv, particularly after Britain imposed economic sanctions on West Bank settlements last month. In response to the British sanctions, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar announced the closure of the British Consulate in East Jerusalem and the revocation of diplomatic credentials for its staff. The Israeli decision is expected to take effect on Thursday.
