At the close of the seven-day mourning period for Rabbi Chaim Dov Haferin, memorial and inspiration gathering was held in Bnei Brak for the young scholar’s passing. Haferin was the son of the Vaslui Rebbe and the son-in-law of the Bohush Rebbe. He died after enduring severe suffering, and the event drew large numbers of Bohush Hasidim, Bnei Brak residents, and family acquaintances to the main study hall of the Bohush community on Hagaai Street.
Seated at the center of the front table were his grieving father, the Vaslui Rebbe, and his father-in-law, the Bohush Rebbe, alongside other mourning relatives and a long row of senior rabbis. The atmosphere was described as heavy with pain, as the gathering marked the end of the shiva period.
The rabbis delivered eulogies and words of awakening. Rabbi Elimelech Biderman praised Haferin’s virtues, his righteousness, and his steadfast faith even during his serious illness, describing him as an example of a true Hasid and servant of God. Later, Rabbi David Feinstein, head of Yeshivat Beit Yehuda, spoke about Haferin’s noble character and the great loss caused by the untimely death of an experienced, devout man cut down in his prime.
