Thousands of residents of Bnei Brak, together with followers of the Vusoloi and Buhush courts, gathered Monday evening for a memorial and spiritual awakening service marking the shiva period for Rabbi Chaim Dov Halperin, who died young. Halperin was the son of the Vusoloi Rebbe and the son-in-law of the Buhush Rebbe.
The event took place at the Vusoloi study hall in the Ramat Aharon neighborhood of Bnei Brak. Seated at the head table were the deceased’s father, the Vusoloi Rebbe, and his father-in-law, the Buhush Rebbe, alongside respected rabbis from the family and the neighborhood.
Speakers delivered eulogies and lamentations, praising Halperin’s radiant character, devotion to Torah study, and noble spirit. They also urged those present to return in repentance and strengthen their observance.
Among the eulogists were his brother, Rabbi Yitzchak Halperin, his brother-in-law Rabbi Avraham Chaim Frenkel, Rabbi Yisrael Aronson, Rabbi Mordechai Uri Engelman, rabbi and head of the rabbinical court in western Rishon Lezion, Rabbi Yisrael Zusha Horowitz, rabbi and head of the rabbinical court for Hasidic communities in Elad, and the deceased’s son-in-law, Rabbi Eliezer Zusia Stern.
