Hungarian Hasidic Rebbe Mourns Temple Destruction with Followers in Bnei Brak

Following the tradition of Hungarian Jewish communities, the Chasam Sofer Hasidic Rebbe and his followers gathered in the Beit Midrash of the Chasam Sofer Yeshiva in Bnei Brak to recite the midnight Tikkun prayer from the beginning of the month of Av. Sitting on the floor with their young children, the Rebbe and his Hasidim mourned the destruction of the Holy Temple with tears.

Earlier in Bnei Brak, a joyous brit milah ceremony was held for the great-grandson of the Makova Gaavad. During the event, the Gaavad sat on a historic sandek chair over 100 years old, brought specially from Makova, Hungary, the very chair on which he himself was circumcised.

In Ashdod, a unique moment occurred when a teacher at the Tzemach Tzadik Talmud Torah received a test note signed by the Vizhnitz Rebbe, who had personally examined his great-grandson on the Talmudic tractate Berachot. Meanwhile, thousands of Bobov 45 Hasidim commemorated the yahrzeit of their late Rebbe in Boro Park and New Jersey, with the current Bobov 45 Rebbe leading prayers and teachings.

Other notable events include the Jerusalem-based Mashpia Rabbi Yitzchak Moshe Erlanger resting in Monroe, New York, and the pilgrimage of several Hasidic Rebbes to the graves of their ancestors in Ukraine during the Nine Days. Additionally, celebrations were held for the engagement of the Arloi Rebbe’s granddaughter, and the Toldos Aharon Rebbe visited a restored synagogue in Krestir, Hungary.
