Apollo Power, a developer and manufacturer of flexible solar sheets, announced on Sunday that Zvi Lando, the former CEO of SolarEdge, has been appointed as the new Chairman of its board of directors. Lando succeeds Major General (Res.) Yomtov Semiah, who retired in August after an eight-year tenure.
Lando brings extensive experience from his decade-long career at SolarEdge, where he held various management positions in global sales before becoming CEO in 2019. During his leadership, SolarEdge joined the S&P 500 index and reached a market valuation of nearly $20 billion in 2022. However, the company faced a significant downturn in the following two years due to inventory surpluses in Europe and rising interest rates in the U.S., impacting demand for solar systems. Lando announced his departure as CEO in August 2024, following a nearly 90% drop in SolarEdge's stock value since the beginning of that year, though he remained on the company's board.
Lando has already been serving as a director at Apollo Power since May 2025 and will now transition to the chairman role. This appointment comes as Apollo Power aims to expand its commercial operations internationally, particularly in the United States. The company, through its subsidiary SolarPaint, produces flexible solar sheets designed for integration onto surfaces where traditional solar panels are difficult to install, such as vehicles.
In August 2025, Apollo Power renewed an agreement with Volkswagen valued at 14.5 million euros. Under this deal, the company's solar sheets are to be installed on the roofs of the German manufacturer's electric vehicles. Apollo Power CEO Oded Rosenberg stated that Lando's expertise in the American solar market and his experience in building international sales networks will be instrumental in the company's expansion in the U.S. and other global markets.
