Israeli police reported on Sunday that a significant illegal weapons cache was discovered in Rahat over the weekend. During an operation targeting illegal arms possession and shooting incidents, officers found handguns, magazines, weapon parts, dozens of bullets, and copper ingots, which are suspected of being used to manufacture ammunition. A resident of Rahat was arrested in connection with the findings and taken for questioning.

In a separate incident in Rahat, following reports of gunfire, security forces apprehended two suspects who fled the scene. A search of the area yielded a handgun, a 9mm magazine, five additional magazines, five M16 rifle stocks, and weapon grips.

Another operation involved a vehicle with two occupants. As forces approached, one suspect allegedly discarded a handgun with a magazine and fled. The second suspect entered a nearby house, where 9mm bullets were found in the yard.

Rahat Police Commander Yitzhak Yona stated that the police are acting with determination and zero tolerance against shooting incidents and illegal arms possession. He emphasized the cooperation between station officers, the Sahar unit, and intelligence arrays in removing weapons from the streets and prosecuting those who possess them illegally, aiming to prevent future violence and enhance resident security.
