  • Train service in northern Israel to be suspended on two Fridays.
  • Disruptions are for Nofit light rail construction and track upgrades.
  • Free shuttle services will be provided by Israel Railways.
  • Affected stations include those from Haifa north to Nahariya and Karmiel.
  • Full service to resume on Saturday nights, October 10 and 17.

Train services in the Haifa and northern Israel region will be completely suspended on two separate Fridays, October 9 and October 16, 2026. The disruptions are necessary for infrastructure work related to the construction of the "Nofit" light rail system, being carried out by the company "Chotze Israel".

During these periods, train traffic will cease north of Haifa Hof HaCarmel station. Affected stations include Haifa Bat Galim, Haifa Horev Center, Hof HaMifratz, Hutzot HaMifratz, Kiryat Haim, Kiryat Motzkin, Acre, Nahariya, Ahihud, Karmiel, Yokneam-Kfar Yehoshua, Migdal HaEmek-Kfar Baruch, Afula-Refael Eitan, and Beit She'an-David Levi.

To mitigate inconvenience, Israel Railways will operate a complimentary shuttle service connecting affected stations. These shuttles will run in both directions along the routes: Nahariya to Haifa Hof HaCarmel (via Acre and Kiryat Motzkin), Karmiel to Haifa Hof HaCarmel (via Ahihud), and Migdal HaEmek-Kfar Baruch to Yokneam-Kfar Yehoshua to Haifa Hof HaCarmel.

Additionally, regular public bus lines will be reinforced, including Egged's line 262 from Karmiel to Haifa and Natev's line 271 from Nahariya to Haifa via Acre. Israel Railways will also conduct essential safety upgrades and track infrastructure improvements during this time.

Full train service is scheduled to resume on Saturday nights, October 10 and October 17, 2026. Passengers are advised to check the Israel Railways website, app, or customer service for the latest updates.
