Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met with Israeli passengers who subdued an attacker on a Flydubai flight, preventing a potential aviation disaster. The passengers, including Yeniv Hayon, Or Pardilov, Dr. Shota Musayev, and his wife Sigalit, recounted their harrowing experience to the Prime Minister. Netanyahu announced that Hayon, identified as a plumber, would light a torch of civil heroism on Independence Day.
"The whole world sees Israeli heroism," Netanyahu told the passengers, adding, "You will light a torch of civil heroism on Independence Day." He urged Israeli citizens to learn from their vigilance, citing a sensitive period with enemies intending to harm them. The incident occurred on a flight en route to Tel Aviv.
Meanwhile, the flight's Indian captain who was injured while fighting the attacker, is reportedly recovering well in Dubai. Foreign Minister Gideon Saar expressed gratitude to the captain for his bravery in an interview with Indian television network NDTV. The UAE's Attorney General has ordered a special investigation into the attempted hijacking and assault.
Rescue flights are expected to depart the following day, though most Israelis remain stranded in Dubai without adequate support. Shin Bet security personnel are set to arrive in Dubai to ensure the safe return of all Israeli passengers and citizens in the UAE.
