Israel Halts Flydubai Flights Following Security Incident
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has accepted Transportation Minister Miri Regev's recommendation to suspend flights operated by Flydubai to Israel. The decision comes in response to a "serious incident" on a flight to Israel, which prompted Regev to investigate potential violations of the aviation agreement between Israel and the United Arab Emirates.
The investigation was triggered by the identity of the co-pilot, who is suspected of attempting to hijack the aircraft. Flydubai flights will remain suspended until the investigation into the circumstances of the incident is completed and the findings are clarified.
Regev's ministry is examining whether the incident breached the terms of the bilateral aviation agreement. The suspension of flights is a direct consequence of these concerns and the ongoing probe into the co-pilot's alleged actions.
