Protest Leader Blames Netanyahu for Security Crisis After Hijacking Attempt

Protest leader Professor Shkema Bressler reacted Wednesday to an unusual security incident over the Middle East, stating, "I hope everyone sees, understands, and feels how much Netanyahu and the 'massacre government' are harming the country's security, us, and our children." Her comments came after an incident aboard Flydubai flight FZ1073 from Dubai to Ben Gurion Airport, carrying approximately 180 passengers, including dozens of Israelis.

During the flight over Jordanian airspace, distress and hijacking codes were activated on the aircraft. The plane executed a sharp dive of about 18,000 feet, prompting an immediate scramble of Israeli Air Force fighter jets and a high alert status in Israel. The incident was initially feared to be an external hijacking.

However, security assessments later indicated the event was an attempted internal attack. The prevailing assessment within the security establishment is that an Omani co-pilot attempted to crash the plane. The captain, crew members, and passengers aboard the flight reportedly struggled with the co-pilot, subdued him, and prevented a major disaster.

The aircraft made an emergency landing in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia. All passengers were safely evacuated.
