Israelis Trapped in Ethiopian Conflict Zone Rescued Safely

After days of intense worry and continuous efforts involving Ethiopian officials, a group of Israelis trapped in the conflict-ridden Tigray region of Ethiopia has been safely rescued. The operation, which utilized two helicopters, concluded successfully, and the rescued individuals are expected to arrive in Israel within the next 24 hours to reunite with their families.

Israeli officials worked tirelessly with senior figures in Ethiopia, Ethiopian Airlines, and a volunteer task force to ensure the safe extraction of the Israelis from the danger zone. Gadi Yevarkan, chairman of the "Tzomet Beit Yisrael" list, who was involved in the rescue efforts, stated that the operation was a special one and that the Israelis were moved to safety. He emphasized the importance of human life and mutual responsibility, noting that many people worked quietly and determinedly behind the scenes until the safe passage of the Israelis was confirmed.

The rescue comes after the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a travel advisory for the Tigray region last Friday, warning Israelis to avoid travel due to escalating security conditions and renewed armed conflict. In response to the deteriorating situation, Ethiopian Airlines suspended its flights to and from the airports in Mekelle, Axum, and Shire.
