A senior Hamas delegation visited Tehran in early September and met with top Iranian officials, including Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf. According to a Palestinian source familiar with the discussions, Hamas representatives requested the resumption of financial support to the organization, which had recently been frozen. However, Hamas officials did not receive any commitment from Iran to restart the funding.
The source indicated that Iran's refusal stems from deep disappointment that Hamas has failed to instigate significant security escalation in the West Bank. In response, Hamas is continuing its efforts to ignite the region, partly to appease the Iranian government and secure renewed financial aid.
