Iran Halts Hamas Funding Over Failure to Incite West Bank Violence

Iran has reportedly halted financial support for Hamas due to disappointment with the organization's inability to destabilize the West Bank, according to Israeli public broadcaster Kan News. A senior Hamas delegation visited Tehran earlier this month for meetings with top Iranian officials, including Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf. A Palestinian source familiar with the discussions told Kan News that Hamas requested the renewal of frozen financial aid, citing "budgetary distress" and the need to fund its operations.

However, the delegation received no commitment for renewed funding. The source indicated that Tehran is "dissatisfied" with Hamas's failure to ignite widespread violence in the West Bank. The absence of Revolutionary Guards and Quds Force commanders from official meetings may signal a strained relationship that is not serving Hamas's interests.

Hamas continues to prioritize escalating conflict in the West Bank as a central part of its strategy, partly to appease Iran and secure its assistance. The report also briefly mentions unrelated incidents of approximately 100 rioters attacking a Palestinian village and three fighters being injured by a vehicle.
