Noa Kirel's New Series Faces $700,000 Copyright Lawsuit

Pop star Noa Kirel's new international youth series, "NOA," is facing a significant legal challenge. A lawsuit seeking 2.6 million shekels (approximately $700,000 USD) in damages has been filed against producer Yair Dori and the Israeli and Argentinian production companies involved.

The lawsuit was initiated by screenwriter and actress Rotem Carmeli, who alleges that the series is based on an original format she developed called "Facu Yeah." Carmeli claims she previously presented this format to Dori and points to striking similarities in plot, character development, and settings between her work and "NOA."

In addition to financial compensation, Carmeli is seeking a court injunction to halt the promotion, marketing, and distribution of the series, which could jeopardize the entire project. Producer Yair Dori has denied the allegations, stating that no use was made of Carmeli's format.

The legal drama unfolds just before the series' premiere. Amazon Prime Video has scheduled the debut for October 9th. The Spanish-language musical series, titled "Mírame Así, El Camino de NOA" ("Look at Me Like That, Noa's Way"), stars Kirel alongside Argentinian actor and singer Agustín Bernasconi. The series will initially be released across Latin America.
