Former PM Bennett Calls for Officials' Dismissal Over Oct. 7 Failures, Warns of Army Collapse

Former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett has called for the immediate dismissal of all officials responsible for what he described as the "failure" surrounding the October 7th Hamas attacks. Speaking at a gathering for victims of the October 7th attack in Tel Aviv, Bennett warned that the Israeli military faces a risk of "collapse."

Bennett asserted that anyone involved in the "failure" must step down immediately, without exception. He presented a different assessment of Israel's current security threats compared to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's warnings.

According to Bennett, the most significant danger is not solely the external security threats but also what he termed "mass evasion of military service" and the potential "collapse of the army." He expressed concern that these developments could impair the military's operational capabilities.

Bennett highlighted a perceived decline in the ability to maintain the army's strength, characterizing it as a "strategic security threat" that transcends typical security warnings. He stressed that the warning of potential army collapse must be taken seriously, stating that no one in the future can claim ignorance of this danger.

He linked the army's potential collapse and the widespread evasion of military service to be a greater threat than those outlined by Netanyahu. Bennett reiterated his call for accountability, emphasizing that the ongoing situation constitutes a critical security issue that demands immediate attention.
