Netanyahu's Campaign Against General Winter Falters Ahead of Election

With less than a month until the elections, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's Likud party is facing internal challenges regarding its campaign strategy. An internal party review has reportedly revealed that Netanyahu's attacks against retired Brigadier General Ofir Winter are not achieving their intended goal, according to Israel Hayom. Posts targeting Winter have garnered significantly fewer likes compared to other campaign content, ranging from approximately 1,700 to 4,000 likes, while other posts have received tens of thousands.

Sources within the Likud party indicated that these findings highlight the public support for the former military official, particularly within the right-wing electorate. "Winter consistently passes the electoral threshold. This campaign cannot continue, and a course correction is needed," the sources stated. The party is concerned that the ongoing negative campaign is negatively impacting the Likud's standing in polls and jeopardizing the entire right-wing bloc.

In response to the reports, the Likud party issued a statement calling the claims "complete fake news and a baseless fabrication." The party asserted that Winter endangers the right-wing bloc and could lead to the formation of a left-wing government supported by Arab parties.
