Jiser Al-Zarqa Hosts Training Course to Foster Mediation and Reconciliation

A training course focused on enhancing mediation and reconciliation is underway in Jiser Al-Zarqa, led by Dr. Ghazal Abu Raya, director of the National Center for Mediation. The initiative is part of the Public Security Department's projects within the local council, with participation from community members. The course aims to promote a culture of bridging divides and reconciliation, emphasizing dialogue and understanding as tools for resolving disputes and building a more cohesive society. Participants are being equipped with practical skills in mediation, conflict management, and reconciliation.

The curriculum covers understanding conflict causes, identifying visible and hidden sources of disputes, communication and listening skills, conflict management, trust-building, and the art of reconciliation. Practical exercises and simulations of real-life scenarios are included. Qassem Sawed, director of the Public Security Department at the local council, is providing administrative and content support, ensuring coordination between the training staff and the course organizers to align the content with community needs.

Participants have expressed appreciation for the skills and knowledge gained, noting the course's effectiveness in developing mediation mechanisms and understanding conflict origins. They highlighted the value of sharing experiences and linking theoretical knowledge with practical application. Participants stated their intention to translate their learning into community initiatives within their respective organizations, promoting values of contribution, cooperation, and social responsibility.

"We are undergoing an important and enriching course, and we want to work on initiatives with the frameworks and institutions in our society. We are taking from the course for ourselves and for our community, and we seek to transform what we learn into actions and initiatives that promote the values of giving, bridging, and reconciliation," participants said. They also emphasized the importance of continued coordination with Qassem Sawed to develop practical ideas and initiatives and leverage mediation and conflict management tools.

Participants and staff thanked Saleh Baqai, director of the Coastal District at the Public Security Authority, for his support in the success of this initiative, which aims to spread a culture of dialogue, bridging, and reconciliation. They affirmed that fostering reconciliation is a shared societal responsibility and that mastering dialogue, mediation, and conflict management tools contributes to conflict prevention, understanding, and strengthening social cohesion.
