Netanyahu and Opposition Leader Lapid to Meet for Security Briefing

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Opposition Leader Yair Lapid are scheduled to meet late Tuesday night at 11:30 PM for a security briefing at the Prime Minister's Office. The meeting was arranged following a request from Lapid, prompted by recent security developments and warnings of potential attempts by Israel's adversaries to disrupt public order and the upcoming elections.

The discussion is expected to focus on the current security situation and necessary actions across various fronts. This comes after Netanyahu's earlier statement at the Tel Nof Air Force base, where he warned, "We have signs that ahead of the elections, our enemies will try to attack us." He also issued a stern message to Israel's enemies: "Don't mess with us, not now and not ever. Our long arm will reach you anywhere, anytime."

Following Netanyahu's warning, Lapid initially demanded an urgent security update. He later expanded his request to include a meeting with the head of the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) and the chairman of the Central Elections Committee, aiming to ensure the integrity of the electoral process and full preparedness against existing threats.

While an official response from the Prime Minister's Office regarding Lapid's expanded request has not yet been issued, the meeting has been confirmed for later tonight following the opposition leader's initiative.
