Lapid Demands Security Briefing from Netanyahu Amid Attack Concerns

Opposition leader Yair Lapid has urgently requested an emergency security briefing from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, citing concerns over potential imminent attacks against Israel. Lapid's demand follows statements by Netanyahu suggesting that Israel's adversaries might attempt attacks ahead of the October 27 elections.

"I want to understand how real these threats are, and if they do exist, what measures the Prime Minister is taking this time to ensure the elections are held without any disruptions," Lapid stated. He emphasized the need to assess the credibility of these threats and the government's response.

The Prime Minister's office confirmed that Netanyahu regularly meets with Lapid on security matters, with the last meeting occurring on September 14. In response to Lapid's request and recent developments, Netanyahu has instructed his military secretary to brief the opposition leader on the current security situation.

Earlier, Netanyahu revealed at an Israeli Air Force base that Israel possesses intelligence indicating adversaries are preparing for further attacks soon. He also mentioned that Israeli forces recently eliminated a terrorist involved in the abduction of Noa Argamani and Avinatan Or, stating that the hostages were rescued before the organizer of their kidnapping was neutralized.

This comes after Lapid previously alleged that Netanyahu received multiple warnings about escalating threats before the October 7, 2023, events but failed to act appropriately.
