Man Rescued After 6-Meter Fall in Jerusalem's Old City

A man in his 50s was rescued from the alleys of Jerusalem's Old City on Tuesday morning after falling more than 6 meters. Fire and rescue teams were dispatched to the scene and performed a complex extraction using rope systems. The man sustained serious injuries, including a head injury, and was evacuated to the hospital in critical condition.

Firefighters from the Egoz station responded to a report of a person who had fallen from a height in the Old City. Upon arrival, they found the injured man in an area with limited access. Due to the difficult terrain and the man's serious condition, the Special Rescue Unit (YELAM) of the Fire and Rescue Services was called to the scene.

Firefighters provided initial medical treatment to the injured man before the YELAM team executed a swift and complex rescue using ropes. "We identified a seriously injured person in a location with limited access. We stabilized his condition in the field, performed a rapid and complex rope rescue with the help of YELAM, and transferred him for medical evacuation while in serious condition," said Chief Fire Officer Muhi Eliyan, the incident commander.
