Israel Police Arrest 19 Suspects in Weapons Crackdown in Arab Sector
Israeli police have arrested 19 suspects in a targeted operation against illegal weapons and crime in the Arab sector of the Southern District. Police from the Arad, Aroer, and Ayarot stations, along with the "Yoav" unit, Border Police (MAGAV), and canine units, conducted searches in the Rotem region.
Following reports of gunfire near Highway 80, Arad police searched a Bedouin settlement and seized an M16 assault rifle. In the Aroer area, 16 individuals were detained on suspicion of involvement in shooting incidents, violence, and stone-throwing.
Further intelligence-led searches in a residential complex uncovered another hidden M16 assault rifle with magazines. Police in Ayarot confiscated Glock and FN pistols, magazines, and ammunition, including 14 boxes of 5.56mm cartridges, 12 M16 magazines, and a 7.62mm belt of ammunition for a MAG machine gun.
