Meni Assayag Slams Media Over October 7th Responsibility Claims

Screenwriter and satirist Meni Assayag has launched a fierce attack against Israeli media outlets, with the exception of Channel 14, over their recent coverage concerning responsibility for the October 7th failures and reports of alleged warnings given to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu prior to the Hamas attack. In a post on X, Assayag questioned why "all the media (except 14) is mobilizing with full force for the false campaign: 'Bibi received a warning from half the world and did nothing?'"

Assayag further harshly criticized the media and the anti-government protests, stating they "echoed, encouraged, lifted, praised, advanced, and nurtured all the criminals and crimes." He labeled the protest movement "the great betrayal of the Kaplan gang against the people of Israel," asserting the media was an "integral part" of it. He also referenced a statement allegedly made on the "Uvda" program shortly before October 7th, "Israel has no air force," countering that "indeed Israel had no air force on the day of the massacre, nor an army at all."

Assayag posited that "the responsibility for enabling the massacre rests on the shoulders of the Israeli media," claiming the media is attempting to "blame others for its own crimes." This comes amid new reports about the nature of warnings received by Israel before October 7th and what the Prime Minister knew. A "Haaretz" investigation suggested UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed allegedly warned Netanyahu, a claim Netanyahu has denied, stating he received no such warning from the Emirates. Netanyahu later made a reported secret visit to Abu Dhabi to meet bin Zayed, with AP reporting the meeting's goal was to request the Emirati president issue a denial of the warning report.

Assayag concluded by stating, "It is important to internalize: the Israeli media is full of creatures who hate their people and their country, and loyal Jews of Israel must not believe a single word they say." He added, "We will save the chapter on the effort of that disgusting and cursed media to cause Israel to lose the war to Hamas for next time," ending with the phrase, "P.S. No Kaplan - No Massacre."
