Knesset Member Tally Gottlieb Accuses Former Shin Bet Chief Ronen Bar of Treason

Knesset Member Tally Gottlieb fiercely attacked former Shin Bet chief Ronen Bar on Tuesday, responding to Bar's claims that he had warned Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu before the October 7th Hamas attacks, but Netanyahu ignored him. Gottlieb accused Bar of being a "dangerous subversive and liar" and welcomed his threat to sue Netanyahu for defamation. She stated that "what will be revealed in the trial will send you and others behind bars." Gottlieb asserted that Bar, along with "the top brass of the army," committed "rebellion and a coup" against Netanyahu before October 7th. She claimed that while Netanyahu was managing a multi-front war, Bar was focused on "whitewashing himself and his friends" from blame for the October 7th failures. Gottlieb alleged that Bar acted to discredit the Prime Minister, believing the ends justified the means, and that he expected people to forget his alleged "rebellion and coup" by not reporting the breach of "only" two kibbutzim. She also accused Bar of preventing Netanyahu from saving Israeli citizens in real-time and of collaborating with Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara against Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir to thwart the right-wing government. Gottlieb further demanded that Bar apologize to the Israeli people for his part in the "absurd and contemptible" disregard of warning signs that allowed thousands of terrorists to breach Israel's borders. She recalled the screams of the murdered, the delayed arrival of the army and aircraft, the suffering of hostages, and the lack of air support for special forces. Gottlieb concluded by stating that she has not forgotten the events of October 7th and that the trial resulting from Bar's defamation suit will be far more revealing than the historical "Kastner trial."
