Military Report Contradicts Netanyahu on Pre-Oct 7th Security Talks

A military investigation into the night preceding the October 7th Hamas attacks presents a different account than that provided by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office. According to a report by Kan News, contrary to a statement issued by the Prime Minister's office, the IDF Chief of Staff and the head of the Shin Bet security agency did not speak directly to each other during that critical night.

The military's internal inquiry, which examined intelligence indicators and events leading up to the massacre, found that communication between the top security officials was conducted through their respective bureau chiefs. The report, presented to political leadership, indicates that the Shin Bet chief's bureau head was instrumental in ensuring the IDF Chief of Staff remained awake and alert during the night.

Prime Minister Netanyahu's office had previously released a statement asserting that the two security chiefs were in contact throughout the night. Sources familiar with the matter claim this statement created the impression that the IDF Chief of Staff and the Shin Bet head deliberately withheld information from the Prime Minister and maintained secret communication. However, the military investigation reportedly found no direct conversation between them occurred.

A senior security official from the time of the attack described the Prime Minister's statement as an attempt to "incite" the heads of the security organizations, adding that Netanyahu is aware the statement was false. The investigation aims to clarify the sequence of events and communication protocols in the hours before the unprecedented assault.
