Palestinian Security Officer Suspected in West Bank Tunnel Bomb Plot

A military court extended the arrest of two residents of Qalqilya, including an officer in the Palestinian Preventive Security service, for eight days. They are suspected of involvement in digging a 25-meter-deep tunnel where various types of weapons were discovered. During the hearing, the suspects' lawyer stated that one of them holds a rank equivalent to a police superintendent.

According to reports, two Israeli suspects were also arrested in connection with the case, and their detention was extended last Thursday. All four suspects are currently in custody, with police maintaining that the tunnel was intended for terrorist activities.

The charges against the four include possession of weapons, conspiracy to commit a crime, preparing to commit an act of terror, preparing a passage or tunnel for criminal purposes or escape, and possessing unauthorized materials.

The military court ruled that there is a reasonable suspicion that the suspects committed the offenses, including preparing a passage or tunnel. The arrests of the two Palestinian suspects were extended until next Sunday, while the Israeli suspects' detention was extended only until the following day.
