Fallen Soldier's Mother Enters Politics, Citing Grief and Duty

Lali Darai, mother of Sergeant (res.) Saadia Yaakov Darai, who was killed in combat in the Gaza Strip, has joined the "Am Yisrael" party led by Ofer Winter. She has been placed sixth on the party's list.

Darai's decision to enter politics stems from her personal tragedy and her inability to remain silent about the issues she feels are important. She explained, "I chose to grow from the trauma. I didn't know I would stand like this in front of people, that I would argue, that I would succeed like this in entering the political arena. It's not that I want to talk, it's that I can no longer be silent."

Her home, where she was interviewed, features a memorial corner with photos of her late son, Saadia. The grief and loss have become a driving force for her public activism and her decision to pursue a political career.

Darai expressed a strong resolve, stating, "We are going to make life difficult for Benjamin Netanyahu, because we do not work for you, we work for the people of Israel." She views her political involvement as a public mission and a firm stance against the country's leadership.

She also shared a personal wish for her daughter-in-law, Rachel, Saadia's widow: "The second dream is that Rachel, his wife, will remarry."
