Hesitation at Traffic Light Uncovers Stolen Vehicles on Tow Truck

Volunteers from the Civil Guard's Central District apprehended a tow truck driver in Jerusalem on Sunday on suspicion of stealing three vehicles from central Israel and attempting to smuggle them into the West Bank. The arrest occurred on Route 444 as the truck, carrying two cars and a motorcycle, was heading towards the Rantis crossing.

According to police, the driver exhibited suspicious behavior, hesitating at a traffic light for multiple cycles and delaying traffic. This unusual conduct prompted the volunteers to stop the truck for inspection.

The suspect claimed he had collected the vehicles from Rishon LeZion and Rehovot as part of his regular towing work. However, upon contacting the registered owners, it was discovered that their vehicles had been stolen without their knowledge or consent, and no towing services had been requested.

The suspect was arrested and taken, along with the tow truck and the stolen vehicles, to the Rosh HaAyin station for further investigation. The stolen property was subsequently returned to its rightful owners. The police and Civil Guard emphasized their continued commitment to combating vehicle theft, apprehending suspects, and recovering stolen property.
