Shabbat Campaign Signs Vandalized in Ramat Gan

Campaign signs promoting Shabbat observance in Ramat Gan were vandalized, with one sign defaced with a message stating, "You are in a liberal neighborhood." The organization behind the campaign, "Me'irim et HaShabbat" (Illuminating Shabbat), condemned the act and vowed to intensify their efforts. The signs, featuring the message "And the children of Israel shall keep the Sabbath - it is for the Jewish people" alongside an image of a holiday table, were placed in various locations across the city.

One sign on Ben-Gurion Street was covered with white papers bearing the message: "You are in a liberal neighborhood! Loyal Zionist Israelis who adhere to the Declaration of Independence live here. Please do not disturb the sanctity of our values and our way of life. Sincerely, the public serving in the IDF and the taxpayers." The "Me'irim et HaShabbat" organization stated that while disagreements with the message are acceptable, vandalizing public displays is not.

In response to the vandalism, the organization announced they would strengthen and increase their Shabbat activities. "Precisely now, we will strengthen Shabbat even more," they declared. Ramat Gan Mayor Carmel Shama-Hacohen reportedly condemned the damage to the sign and contacted the police regarding the incident.
