Senior Rabbi Warns Against Leftist Gains Ahead of Elections

Rabbi Yitzchak Zilberstein, a prominent leader within the Haredi (ultra-Orthodox) community and Degel HaTorah party, issued a strong warning against the strengthening of the political left during a pre-election rally on Sunday. He urged the public to pray for divine assistance to prevent what he described as a "lack of heavenly assistance," which he believes is linked to the rise of the left.

Speaking to a gathering of Haredi Knesset members, Rabbi Zilberstein emphasized the need to actively counter any gains made by leftist parties. "We need great heavenly assistance from God today and to prevent the lack of heavenly assistance. The lack of heavenly assistance comes from the strengthening of the left, and we must prevent the strengthening of the left as much as possible," he stated.

The rally, attended by Haredi lawmakers, focused on mobilizing support and reinforcing the community's political stance ahead of upcoming elections. Rabbi Zilberstein's remarks underscore the deep ideological divisions within Israeli society and the significant role religious leaders play in shaping political discourse, particularly within the Haredi sector.
