Reserve Soldier Arrested After Thousands of Child Abuse Images Found on Phone
Israeli police have arrested a 30-year-old reserve soldier suspected of possessing over 3,000 images of child sexual abuse material. The discovery was made when military police, initially investigating the soldier for alleged privacy violations and indecent acts against female soldiers, examined his mobile phone. The shocking findings were then transferred to the Israel Police, who launched a separate investigation and apprehended the suspect in Hadera.
During questioning, the reservist denied the allegations, claiming the images were received through various Telegram groups. While military police released him under restrictive conditions, including full house arrest, a civilian court ordered his detention extended in connection with the child abuse material charges.
The Military Advocate General's Corps stated that the investigation into alleged offenses against soldiers was ongoing. Following the discovery of potential offenses against civilians outside of his military service, the case was handed over to the Israel Police. The military confirmed the suspect's release under restrictive conditions in their investigation.
