IDF Reservist Arrested for Child Pornography After Privacy Investigation

A 30-year-old IDF reservist from the Sharon district is under investigation by both military and civilian police. Initially, the military police were probing allegations of privacy violations and indecent acts against female soldiers. However, the investigation took a serious turn when over 3,000 images of child pornography were discovered on his phone.

Following the discovery, the military police transferred the case to the civilian police. The reservist was subsequently arrested and brought to the Hadera police station for questioning. During interrogation, he denied the charges, despite the evidence found on his device. He claimed the materials were circulated in various Telegram groups.

The reservist faces separate investigations. The military police are looking into the initial allegations concerning female soldiers, under which he was released to restrictive conditions, including house arrest. Concurrently, the civilian police are investigating the possession of child sexual abuse material, and a court ordered his detention extended in this matter.

The IDF confirmed the sequence of events, stating that the military police initiated an investigation into privacy violations and indecent acts against female soldiers. Upon discovering materials suggesting offenses against civilians outside his military service, the information was passed to the Israel Police. The IDF added that the reservist was released under restrictive conditions in the military police case.
